About Ulaantaij
Established in 2004, Ulaantaij, meaning Red Noble - is a Mongolian company with Western
management and work practices. With our own 350 square meter yurt workshop in
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, we specialise in the manufacture and export of traditional Mongolian
yurts. The materials & design of our yurts have been adapted from the standard Mongolian
design to take into account the climate found in Europe. Furthermore, we are a good corporate
citizen of Mongolia and are proud to have a positive impact on the lives of our employees. Half
of our employees are female, we also count mentally & physically handicapped members of
staff amongst our employees. Where possible we always source materials locally and ensure
we pay a fair and honest price for all materials and labour. We guarantee no one else in Asia
is making yurts to the same ethical standards that we employ.

About Yurts Direct
I am a UK national, my wife is Mongolian. We spend nine months a year in Mongolia making
our yurts. I am personally involved in buying wood, paint, canvas felt, horsehair and even
rawhide. I know where to buy from and where not to. What's good and what's bad. Who's a
good carpenter and who's not.. I am the only non-Mongolian in Mongolia doing this and have
been doing this for over 5 years now. We were also the first people to bring Mongolian yurts to
the UK in 2004. Since then we have grown to be the largest supplier of Mongolian yurts in the
UK. We feel confident that our yurts are the finest Mongolia produces, and are sold at a price
that is fair and accessible to all.
